1. UNM
The University of New Mexico is the largest university in the state and the areas surrounding campus are highly desirable. The UNM neighborhood has plenty of shops and hotels because it is a popular area in town for tourists. The area is very diverse.

2. NE Heights
The NE Heights is located some distance away from the city center and as such is quieter than many Albuquerque neighborhoods. The area is quite affluent and many houses in this neighborhood are near or over the $1 million mark. The schools in this area are rated quite highly. The NE Heights is great for families, professionals and retirees. However, if you’ll be commuting every day, you may want to consider the distance.

3. South Valley
The South Valley is the most traditional of Albuquerque neighborhoods. The area is known for it’s close proximity to original, traditional New Mexico. The oldest and most traditional New Mexican restaurants and businesses are located here. Home prices are quite affordable in the area. If you’re looking for a strong community, the South Valley is the place to be.

4. North Valley
The North Valley seems quite distant from the hustle and bustle that sometimes defines Albuquerque, but it’s right in the middle of the city! The North Valley is maintained by the constant flow of the Rio Grande and as such is consistently green and lush. The area has a ton for families. If you love the outdoors and peace & quiet, you might love living in the North Valley.

5. Corrales
Corrales is technically a village that is separate from the city of Albuquerque but is almost entirely contained by the city (Rio Rancho borders Corrales on the west side). Corrales is a small farming community that is one of the most serene places you can find in Albuquerque. The Albuquerque metro area has well over a million people and Corrales sits at about 9,000. If you think you might enjoy a bit of small-town life in Albuquerque, Corrales is one of the Albuquerque neighborhoods you should check out.

6. Downtown
Downtown Albuquerque is a ton of fun! There are clubs, bars, theaters, shops, restaurants, parks and so much more. The whole family can truly enjoy Downtown Albuquerque. Right along Route 66, the Downtown neighborhood is currently undergoing multiple millions of dollars worth of revitalization.

7. Uptown
Uptown is one of the most popular residential areas in Albuquerque and is quite large. Many of Albuquerque business centers are located here and much of the retail shops in the city calls this area home.
